new music on portraits site…

hi everyone!

just  a heads-up that the amazing andrew hatfield wrote us another song for the portraits website.  we’ve put it up and love how it complements the images.

go check it out here.

it doesn’t seem right to have a post without pictures… here are few tyler took recently at sunset.  the first two are from hanna city, il, taken on new year’s eve.  the last one is from an overlook near our house in alto pass, il.  you can see Bald Knob Cross in the distance.

andrew

remember andrew from here?

i met andrew when i was in 7th grade through his sister & my wonderful friend, whitney.  andrew is a phenomenal musician, so i was ecstatic when i had the idea to ask him about writing a song for our website.  when talking to him, we found out he was in need of some photos for his new CD and other promo materials — so we did a little exchange!

andrew wrote a beautiful song for our weddings website called “fair clover fields”!  we are excited to have it up, and i think it really enhances the photos.  he’s got another one on it’s way for exposure | photostyle too.

as far as our part of the deal, i had the hardest time narrowing the pictures down!  i love photos with instruments, and since he brought along a mandolin, an acoustic guitar, and an electric, there was a ton of variety.  enjoy the pictures.  : )

since andrew is a great local artist, i thought you might like to learn a little more about him.  make sure to check out his site for upcoming events.

in his own words…

Hi! My name is Andrew Hatfield. I play and teach guitar,
mandolin, banjo, and bass. I have taught music lessons full-time
since 2004. I started out playing bluegrass music, but I also play a
style of music that we like to call “God’s Soul Music” with my friend
and fellow musician Julius Adams. We have recorded 2 CD’s together,
in addition to countless unreleased tracks.
I have also recorded 2 CD’s with with my sister, Whitney Winkler. She is beautiful,
and is a terrific singer. She lives with her husband, Ben in Kentucky.
Right now, you can see me play live in the Peoria area with Applegate
and Company, a bluegrass-folk band that has played in Peoria for 3 decades,
or on occasion with Matt Larson, a singer-songwriter, and rep for Nechville Banjos.
I am available for gigs and short-term assignments as a backup musician on
acoustic and electric guitar, mandolin, and banjo, and bass. I am a clean recording
musician, and will be happy to play on your next recording project. As a teacher,
I specialize in teaching music theory and composition classes, and am available for
workshops, etc. I am available for weddings, and will help make your
ceremony acoustically beautiful. Thanks for checking out my blog!
